"The end of Witchcraft"

Films: Mother of Tears (2007)

Alias: Mother of Tears

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: That of an average human.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: We saw the end of the Mother of Sighs. We witnessed the downfall of the Mother of Darkness. But now, we see an end to the legacy of the three greats among witches. We see it with the most beautiful and most powerful of them all. Middle child Mater Lachrymarum.

History: The Mother of Tears, Mater Lachrymarum went into a state of hibernation upon hearing about and/or witnessing the demises of her sisters. Her tomb was under the Palazzo Varelli in Italy, but one day, an urn containing her red tunic was uncovered. Some blood accidentally spilt on it, awakening her after all of this time. And unlike her predecessors, her influence is widespread, with manic cultists, horrific demons, and even a baboon at her beck and call. Soon, the entire city is locked into terror. All in the name of bringing about the second fall of Rome.

Notable Kills: Her influence causes mothers to kill their babies by dropping them off of bridges!

Final Fate: After threatening to feed an American woman to her followers, Lachrymarum realizes too late that her victim is the daughter of the very same white which who fought off her and her sisters in the first place. Sure, the witch part doesn't do our heroine that much good, but she does rip the evil witch's tunic off and toss it into a fire, causing the entire catacombs to fall into ruin. Lachrymarum is impaled by a falling pillar, and her followers are destroyed by the rubble. The long, violent reign of the Three Mothers is over.

Powers/Abilities: Lachrymarum has all manner of magic at her fingertips. Her followers include witches and demons.

Weakness: Only a descendent of her white witch enemy can stop her. Also, destroying her tunic will undo everything she's done.

Scariness Factor: 4.5-The previous witches had positively nothing on Lachrymarum. Compared to her, they're girl scout amoebas. This witch took her villainy and unleashed it on a scale never realized by the others, turning everyone against each other, and coming agonizingly close to bringing about world anarchy. She may have been easy to defeat, but for the time she was around, she ended the Mater legacy with one Hell of a bang.

Trivia: -Apparently, a script for a third film had been around since 1984, but none of the ideas in it were used for this film.

-Lachrymarum was originally going to be played by Ania Pieroni, as she was in her brief cameo in "Inferno", but due to her busy family life and age, she declined, and allowed the role to be given to Moran Atias.

It's kinda all come down to this.

The blood still flows freely.

Yeah...nothing changes except for how much more depraved they all can be.

Remember. An Argento made this.
Tears from the audience, that is.
